It’s already July, and in just weeks it will be that time again – college football season kick-off! Our Flower Mound custom home builders think all passionate football fans should have a great place to enjoy the game with friends and family. While you could watch the games in the living room, just how much are those whoops and hollers going to annoy those members of your family who aren’t so dedicated to the game? A media room is the perfect solution – but not just any media room.
Consider the following:
A room that’s soundproof. Whether the guys (and gals) are cheering, clapping, or yelling cries of disagreement with officials, a room that is soundproof is ideal for watching football, or any other sport for that matter. You can thoroughly enjoy the time with buddies without worry of disturbing the peace.
A space that’s just right. You don’t want a media room that’s overly small or too large, but one that will comfortably hold eight or 10 people. Everyone should be able to see the television(s) and move around easily without climbing over each other.
Pizza, nachos, hot wings – and a place to put it all. All that great food is part of the experience! From soft drinks and beer to chips, snacks and other goodies, make sure there is a table or countertop close by where you and your guests can graze without missing a play. A small refrigerator or beverage center located under the counter is a good idea as well.
A powder room located just off the media room is a must for halftime! There’s no need for everyone who’s enjoying the game to have to traipse all through the house to reach the bathroom. Make it convenient for everyone – and save on having to clean up any mess in the rest of the house.
Comfy seating that’s easy to clean. Cleaning up after the game is the hard part, so make it easy on yourself with comfortable seating crafted of materials like leather or canvas. Sticky soda, messy nachos, hot wing sauce; these things do end up in strange places during the excitement, so keep everything in the media room as easy to clean as possible.
Consider a sink and dishwasher close by. It’s a lot easier to toss the dirty glasses, cups, plates and bowls into a sink or dishwasher that’s near by than to carry it all across the house to the kitchen. Enough said.
Of course you’ll want an amazing TV or two so everyone can see the game without having to look around each other or strain their necks. Consider the best height for mounting along with any angles that could make it difficult to see when deciding where to place the televisions.
Sounds like a great time, doesn’t it? Every college football fan should have an amazing space to enjoy the game, entertain friends and just have a great time without disturbing everyone else in the household.
