Over the years, Flower Mound has made so many “best” lists it’s really hard to keep up. As North Texas custom home builders who are a little partial to this wonderful town, we’re happy to tell you about another title Flower Mound recently achieved – #9 on Texas’ 50 Safest Cities of 2018 list!
Population and FBI crime data from 2016 were used by SafeWise in determining the ranks of various cities in Texas for safety. According to news reports, Flower Mound has been among the top 10 on SafeWise’s safest cities in Texas for four years running. Another city we love also made a good showing on the list, Highland Village who landed at #13 on the list.
An independent review site, SafeWise revealed that Texas is becoming safer as a whole, while cities of all sizes are experiencing fewer violent, hate and property crimes. In fact, more than 80% of the 50 cities that made the list had less than one violent crime per 1,000 residents during the time period analyzed for the report.
The numbers rolled out like this for Flower Mound: With a population of 72,600, there were .045 violent crimes per 1,000 people. This would equate to fewer than 36 of the more than 72,000 residents of the city being a victim of a violent crime. There were 8.28 property crimes per 1,000 people.
Other cities making the 50 safest cities in Texas of 2018 list include (in no particular order): Frisco, Colleyville, Allen, Murphy, Leander, Coppell, Little Elm, Highland Park, Cibolo and Fair Oaks Ranch, to name a few.
