A recent study conducted by HomeSnacks.net has ranked Flower Mound as one of the top 10 safest cities in Texas. Analysts reportedly used recent FBI crime data in determining which cities in Texas were safest in those with populations of more than 5,000. In all, 331 cities were analyzed with Highland Village also landing among the top 10 at number 7. Flower Mound came in at number 10.
Flower Mound’s overall ‘SnackAbility’ rating was 10 out of 10, the best SnackAbility score that can be given. According to news reports, HomeSnacks relied on data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s most recent crime report summarizing property and violent crimes for the state rather than opinions and speculation often found with public polls and surveys. Property crimes include motor vehicle and other thefts along with burglaries, while violent crimes include armed robberies, assaults, sexual assaults, murders and other offenses considered violent or particularly heinous.
Flower Mound was found to be the 11th safest town of the 331 in the study in terms of violent crimes with 45 per 100,000 over the study period, which also found the town to be the 19th safest when it comes to property crimes with 827 per 100,000 during the same time period. This essentially means that there is a 1 in 1,613 chance of being the victim of a violent crime, and a 1 in 88 chance of being the victim of a property crime. Great statistics when you consider the most dangerous city in the state leaves residents facing a 1 in 11 chance of being the victim of a crime! What city is that? Bellmead, according to HomeSnacks.
