Key Tips When Building A Custom Flower Mound Home

April 11, 2019

As Flower Mound custom home builders we know that building a new home is an exciting time in your life, but it can also be one of the most stressful.  Our goal is to not only deliver on your dreams, but make the process as enjoyable as possible along the way.  We have a few tips to consider before you ever begin building your new home.

Take your time when choosing a builder.  All builders are not created equal when it comes to knowledge, experience, and dedication to a job well done.  Check out the builder’s reputation online, make a list of questions to ask during the interview, make sure you feel comfortable and can easily communicate with builders you’re interested in.

Think carefully about now, and what the future may hold.  Naturally you want your custom home to meet all of your family’s needs at the current time, but what about in the future?  Your children won’t always be little, and at some point you and your spouse will grow older.  Most people who build a custom home in Flower Mound intend to stay in their homes for the foreseeable future, so consider all of the factors that may become more important 10 or 20 years from now.

Review the floor plan, again and again.  The floor plan is critical to the functionality and enjoyment of your home.  Is each room large enough for your furniture, and how will you arrange it?  Is the garage in close proximity to the kitchen so that it will be convenient for quickly carrying groceries in?  Do the rooms flow seamlessly from one space to another?  Bedroom location is important too, especially if you frequently have overnight guests.  Think of every possible thing you can to be sure that you’ll be happy with the layout once your home is complete.

Of course budget is important!  Even when you’re building a custom upscale home, most people don’t want to spend far more than they intended to.  There is a lot more involved than you might think, especially when it comes to advanced technology, interior upgrades and other costs.  Your builder can enlighten you more about all of the various costs to help you stay within budget.

At Bud Bartley Homes we want your home building experience to be as pleasant and stress-free as possible.  We are ready to work with you on a new custom Flower Mound home, or you may want to consider one of our beautiful move-in ready homes!  Give us a call today.
