Once again, Flower Mound has come in at the No. 1 spot, this time in a study of small cities in the U.S. that are considered the most livable. SmartAsset recently completed their second annual study of most livable small cities after analyzing data from over 200 cities with populations of 65,000 to 99,999. Our custom green home builders are excited about Flower Mound taking the top spot once again!
Some of the factors used in ranking the most livable small cities included home affordability, concentration of healthcare and social assistance establishments, unemployment rate, average commute time, percentage of residents without health insurance or below poverty line, concentration of restaurants, bars, and entertainment establishments, and more.
Flower Mound also topped SmartAsset’s list of most livable small cities in 2018, the first year the financial/investment agency conducted this study. For 2019, Flower Mound took top honors due for the most part to low poverty rate (only 2%), low unemployment rate (2.9%), and housing costs as a percentage of median household income (17.9%). The one drawback mentioned in reports was the average commute time for Flower Mound residents, which was said to be about 27.5 minutes. Not a big problem for those who prefer a charming setting with a welcoming, small town feel!
Like last year’s SmartAsset most livable small cities in the U.S. study, Livonia, Michigan came in right behind Flower Mound in the No. 2 spot. Rounding out the top 10 were Lafayette, IN, Oshkosh, WI, Cheektowaga, NY, Sioux City, IA, St. Charles, MO, Cranston RI, Warwick, RI and Eau Claire, WI. The only other Texas city that came in at No. 12 of the top 25 was Mansfield.
For those who prefer a more peaceful, serene setting that’s not too far from the city and offers ample job opportunities, family activities, entertainment, a real sense of community and more, Flower Mound may be the perfect place to live your life and create wonderful memories.
