Semi-custom homes are just as the name implies – capable of being customized to a certain extent. In this case, builders usually have a basic floor plan that can be changed so that some of the homebuyer’s design preferences are incorporated into the floor plan. How much a semi-custom home may be modified depends on the builder – and the more changes or alterations made, the higher the cost. When buyers have a very specific vision for the home of their dreams, it may be better to go with a true custom home.
