With a video doorbell you:
Know who rung it by simply checking the video on your smart phone. If you don’t know who it is, you don’t have to open the door.
Can talk to the person at the door without actually opening it. Whether you are inside your home or in your car, you can find out who it is, what they want, etc.
Can record the area around your door. Why does this matter? UPS, FedEx and other delivery companies often leave packages on the porch. You have the ability to monitor the area around the door not only to see if theft of a package has occurred, but to determine if someone was trying to break in.
May be able to stop a theft or other vandalism before it happens. Vandals know that video doorbells are a growing thing today, so many will look to see if a home they’re targeting has one. It will hopefully stop the crime from occurring – but if it doesn’t, you will have evidence to take to the police.
Video doorbells are also programmable, making it possible for you to control what times the camera will be active, time schedules, the range of the motion detector, and more. You can also use it as a motion detector or sensor, as movement within the selected range can be viewed so you know what’s going on.
