Flower Mound Custom Homes – Love Your New Kitchen With These Design Tips

March 21, 2019

flower mound custom homes

As Flower Mound custom home builders who have been in the business for decades we know that today, the kitchen is the heart of the home.  Your family enjoys meals together, cooking, experimenting with new dishes, even entertaining guests and socializing in the “hub” of your home.  These days it’s also important for a home to flow seamlessly with open spaces that make the kitchen/dining area seem as though it’s part of the family room.

Because this room is so important, we have a few design tips we think will make you love your new kitchen even more.

Create sleek, beautiful lines that flow by concealing your appliances.  Sure, those stainless steel refrigerators are beautiful, but wouldn’t your kitchen have a more cohesive look if all of those appliances didn’t stand out?  From refrigerators and induction stoves to the microwave and walk-in pantry, you can conceal all of these features behind cabinet doors that add to the visual appeal of your kitchen.

Additional refrigeration is a great idea if you cook meals at home often and have a prep station where you chop veggies, prep meat, etc.  A small fridge right next to your prep area makes it a lot more convenient than having to walk back and forth – and you enjoy the extra room you have in your regular refrigerator.

A sink that’s for more than washing dishes.  How about a huge sink with two faucets so both of you can prepare for the dinner party?  Or a multi-purpose sink with cutting boards or draining grates you can use as a prep station?  The kitchen sink just got bigger – and it serves many purposes.

Hardwood floors.  Yes, you read that right!  Hardwood floors aren’t just for the formal living room anymore, and there is nothing more beautiful than rich, gleaming wood.  Imagine how beautifully the space will flow from kitchen to family room.  Oak and other hardwoods stand up exceptionally well to high traffic, and will likely last longer than you will with proper upkeep.

From floors to counter tops and appliances, there is a lot more to think about in the kitchen besides paint color!  At Bud Bartley Homes we create beautiful, functional spaces that make life not only more enjoyable, but easier for your entire family,  Give our Flower Mound custom home builders a call today.
