U-Haul recently released its list of the most popular destinations among its clients, and Texas hit number one on the list making our state the one more people are moving to for the third straight year!
As you might expect, suburban areas around the boom towns like Austin, Houston and the Dallas-Ft. Worth metroplex were top destinations, including the home of the new ExxonMobil campus, Spring, a northwest suburb of Houston. As far as popular specific cities go, Spring and the North Texas suburb of McKinney rated highest in the state and among the top 15 in-demand cities in the U.S. for DIY movers.
You may not be so confident that Texas is the most popular and fastest growing state in the U.S. based on a U-Haul report, however a U.S. Census study that came out a few weeks ago confirms it! According to the study, over 379,000 people were added to Texas between July of 2017 and July of 2018. Lila Valencia, senior demographer with the Texas Demographic Center, said our state is a top destination because it’s culturally and economically diverse, and offers employment in health, technology, energy, military and other areas.
