As Flower Mound custom green home builders, we’ve known for countless years that this city is one of the best places anyone could choose to call home for so many reasons. Now, Flower Mound has made CNN Money Magazine’s list of Best Places to Retire in the country! Not only that, it’s the only city in the state of Texas to make the list. Bragging rights? You bet!
Flower Mound was chosen best for encore workers, which simply means those who will remain in the workforce or return to it after the age of 65. The Bureau of Labor Statistics claims that in six years, about 13 million will participate in the workforce who are 65 or older. Right now there are almost 9 million in this age group employed, so this represents a 44% increase by 2024. This makes Flower Mound a great place to retire considering the explosion of growth in the DFW area, one of the fastest-growing markets in the country today with expected job growth of more than 16% over the next few years. Currently, 36% of the city’s population is 50 years old or older.
Some of employers present in Flower Mound include Stryker, Best Buy and Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, however there are plenty of jobs available all around North Texas within a short distance of the city. Online job boards also list opportunities many seniors find rewarding from bookkeeping positions to caregivers.
Other cities on the list included Scottsdale, AZ, Coweta, OK, Torrance, CA and North Hempstead, NY among others.
Flower Mound is an amazing place to call home, one of those cities that offers a small-town, country feel while the “big city” is just a stone’s throw away when you’re ready to go. Whether for young families or those nearing retirement age, there is something for everyone who desire an enhanced living experience.
